About Vidyarthi Mandiram
Seeking to materialize Swami Vivekananda’s values of man-making and character-building education, the Sri Ramakrishna Vidyarthi Mandiram (SRVM) was started in 1943.
SRVM is a modern hostel and yet almost comparable to an ancient Vedic ashrama. The aim of SRVM is to supplement university academic education by imparting training conducive to the holistic development of students. SRVM facilitates a suitable home for deserving boys outside of Bangalore who desire to excel and such students are supplemented with the institution’s guidance.
- SRVM provides a non-communal and non-political atmosphere.
- The institution facilities character-building and the wholesome spiritual life of its inmates under the guidance of Ramakrishna Math’s Swamiji.
- SRVM exerts special emphasis on physical fitness through games and other activities.
- The inmates of the institution are encouraged to develop individual talents, and monetary support is extended to poor but deserving students.

Sports
Physical fitness and strength are essential parts of a student’s life. Activities like sports, yoga, and various exercises are essential to a student’s routine. Physical activities are as important as spiritual practices and academics. SRVM has well-equipped facilities for outdoor sports like football, basketball, badminton, and volleyball and indoor games like chess, and table tennis. A well-equipped gym is also available for students. Physical activities are scheduled in the morning and evening. Annual sports events allow students to compete with each other and exhibit their expertise.
Liberal Arts
A creative mind is a source of joy and engages an individual in curiosity, wonder, and appreciation for the offerings of the world. SRVM students are encouraged to enhance their creative strengths and express their talents through the arts. Activities like creative writing are published in internal magazines and similarly, poster-making allows budding artists to express their creativity. Various art forms of students are appreciated and encouraged considering that everything the mind conceives cannot be spoken but expressed through creativity.
Martial Arts
Self-defense sports impart discipline, concentration, and self-control to an individual. An individual can brave adverse situations and protect themselves with confidence. Recently, Karate training was introduced in SRVM. The purpose of introducing martial arts is to encourage students to be fearless and righteous.
Humanitarian Responsibilities
Giving back to society is the value of Swami Vivekananda and SRVM students promptly exhibit such qualities by participating in activities to uplift vulnerable communities. Food distribution is one of the regular activities extended by SRVM. General medicines are made available to the needy whenever required. Such activities are coordinated with utmost care and empathy.
