This single sentence is the fulcrum of our activities at SRVM. We believe that success is not limited to board exam scores or entrance ranks alone. We measure it by whether a young man who leaves our gates can stand firmly on his own feet.
Inspired by Vedanta
“सा विद्या या विमुक्तये” (sā vidyā yā vimuktaye — “That alone is knowledge which liberates.”)This is the Vedantic heart of everything we do at SRVM. Students must not be empty vessels to be filled with facts; they already carry perfection within them, waiting to be uncovered. Our role is not to impart something external, but to draw out what is already latent: discipline, strength, compassion, and wisdom. As Swamiji himself put it: “Education is the manifestation of the perfection already in man.“

At SRVM, no student is merely a name on an admissions list. Every student who walks through our doors becomes part of a family, supported by monks, mentors, alumni, and a community bound by genuine care rather than obligation.
The Spirit of Śraddhā
If there is one word that captures SRVM’s inner philosophy, it is Śraddhā — a deep, reflective faith in oneself and the Divine, which Swami Vivekananda considered the very foundation of character. He taught that this internal conviction is what empowers individuals to stand on their own feet.
Education, therefore, is not about mere acquisition of information. It is the process of recognising and cultivating one’s own inherent strength and dignity, a reminder we carry not just in our classrooms, but even in the name of our monthly newsletter, Śraddhā.
Our Guiding Principle: Shiva Jnane Jiva Seva
“Service to humanity as service to the Divine.”
This teaching of Sri Ramakrishna shapes how our students understand service. It is not charity performed occasionally, but as a form of worship, practiced regularly through Narayana Seva, community outreach, and a life oriented toward giving back.
Our Institutional Motto
“आत्मनो मोक्षार्थं जगत् हिताय च” (Ātmano Mokshārtham Jagat Hitāya Ca — “For one’s own liberation, and for the welfare of the world.”)
This is the motto of the Ramakrishna Mission itself, and it defines the dual purpose of every program at SRVM.
